I set up Kate Stuart Photography back in 2006, after graduating with a first class degree in Media Studies at Glamorgan University.
Before that I studied an Art Foundation where I explored all different mediums. However, it was photographing people that I truly fell-head-over-heels for and so I knew it was a career in photography that I was going to pursue.
I'm now 14 years into my career!
Not a day goes by without me waking up feeling grateful for every enquiry that allows me to continue doing what I absolutely love!
After getting a camera for my birthday as a little girl I was utterly fascinated by being able to paused time and capture it. I studied art in the welsh valleys before before releasing that my true love was in photography.
I’m fascinated by photography as a medium but it isn’t the main reason why I choose to be a photographer. I’m a people and stories person and it’s the love of that which attracts me so much to photography.
I mean is there anything better than meeting wonderful people, hearing their stories and capturing their legacy for generations to come!
I’m an outdoorsy person who loves the sea. I’m an advanced scuba diver and love being under the water so damn much!
I have a serious weakness to traveling and experiencing different cultures. Without a doubt a foodie – and I do love a delicious, crisp glass of Sauvignon blanc! (Marlborough, New Zealand, in case you were wondering…)
I’ve got an allotment on Barry Island so you’ll find me there pretending to know what I’m doing!
I’m a keen environmentalist, and have reflected that in my business by planting a tree every time a couple books me.
(I’m aware this sounds a bit like a ‘Tinder’ profile, so I’ll stop here!)
My home of Barry Island in South Wales is a lovely place to live. Backing onto the turbulent waters of the Bristol channel, the seaside town is also surrounded by lush nature, making it easy to fall in love with the outdoors.
This love of the outdoors is pretty obvious in lots of my wedding photography, where I’m often lucky enough to capture a couple’s love surrounded by the Welsh countryside. A few more of my fav things are some tasty treats: Cheese, Chocolate and Wine!
That’s a little about me - I can’t wait to get to know you! I believe that it’s important to really understand the people that I’m photographing, to make sure that the end results really represent the unique personalities of each couple.
"I can not wait to find another excuse to book Kate for more photos in the future!"
"Kate was absolutely wonderful! She made us feel relaxed and was a huge hit with all of our guests. The photos that we received following the wedding were stunning. We would highly recommend to all!"
"The photos are perfect, exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend and definitely return!"
